End of No Child Left Behind

I'm glad we had such a thought-provoking discussion on education the other day. So what do our American friends here think of the bipartisan bill that was passed with a large majority in the Senate today, which is designed to overhaul the outdated No Child Left Behind policy, bolstering the states' jurisdiction over education?

In my view any education reform that focuses on improving quality at the cost of standardized results is a positive. We don't just need a majority of students being able to complete tests satisfactorily, rather we need a student population who is motivated to innovate and think creatively. Simply learning the basic disciplines and demonstrating test-taking ability is not enough to vastly improve the population's overall learning skills.
