‘They know how it’s done’: Turkey violated Greek airspace 2,244 times in 2014 alone
"Turkish claims that the downed Russian Su-24 jet “violated” its airspace have sparked outrage among Greeks, who took to social media to say it is a clear-cut case of double standards as Turkish ( Read more... )

You know as they say, might makes right. As long as Turkey believes they can do something and not face the consequences, they would do it. Same goes for Russia, obviously.

Absolutely right. But where is NATO? Why NATO is double faced? Today Nikola Sarkozi said that "Turkey must never be part of EU, we can be friends but not in EU"

NATO is exactly where it wants to be.

Turks aren't white and Christian enough for their airspace to matter to NATO.

Hmmm. Good collating there. Informative and useful.

Do we know, as yet, if Erdogan's son has been further implicated in the buying and selling of IS oil?

Even if he were, his daddy has been doing his best to sweep it all under the rug.

Any non-Russian sources?

I'm not really buying this story. There is of course some truth behind parts of it, smuggling was widespread and well known going back a few years. The first link shows a great picture of one of the independent, small scale refineries we keep hearing about. Even the EU wanted in, they just couldn't compete with Turkey. Of course this was all a year before Mosul fell and this all became IS oil, which is of course bad, rather than oil being used to fund the rebellion against Mr. Assad, which was so noble it probably didn't produce CO2.

The Turks even cracked down on smuggling last year ( ... )

This being the Greeks, I take their view of Turkish incursions about as seriously as I do North Korea's regular shelling and bombing South Korea: not at all. Greece just wants more money from Brussels and is trying to piggyback off the latest issue to get attention.

Using Twitter as a channel to get their point through doesn't make it seem like a very serious attempt to get attention. Rather looks like some mild 101 trolling to me.

It's Greece. They're too lazy to use 'real' media. ;)

Kudos for skillfully using the ad hominem of national proportions. ;)

I see some wild speculation and little fact in there. A commendable effort, nevertheless.

Well, IFLS has been known for just throwing stuff out there that hasn't been fully vetted.

I still found it interesting because instead of the "evil Turks" or "evil Russians" narrative we're hearing from almost everyone, it's basically stating the much more cynical (but maybe more realistic) scenario, that all sides are just pursing their own interests and, as usual, saying "to hell with the consequences for anyone else."
