Well, most other countries in the region haven't been as fortunate. The embargo has affected us pretty severely, and not just in the food industry but also in tourism and other spheres of business.
Brussels doesn't give a shit, of course. Our "allies" from across the Pond, even less so.
The Polish experience has demonstrated that artificial trade barriers could actually be used for stimulating development into new directions and markets, and even overhauling entire industries to a point where they become unrecognizable in a very positive way.

Not that we matter for anyone, and anyone would allow us to be in Poland's situation anyway.
