To the opponents of any such measures, I have this one question. Do they think we can continue to dig up coal, oil and gas to meet our increasing need for energy forever?

It is questionable if renewables can meet the current energy needs, let alone the future ones.

Of course I answer the question. That is the thing with rhetorical questions. :-)

Heat and cold-related deaths can be prevented if the use of fuels is optimised in a way that would be more energy-consuming. And this is not as complicated as it may sound - in fact, there are places and sectors where it is already happening

Late last year, the President announced, with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, that both nations would significantly cut their carbon emissions

What's funny is Xi Jinping is actually going to very easily follow through on his promise. China is tripling its nuclear capacity in the next few years. It won't be a problem at all for them to close down their other reactors.
