Given the quasi-democratic way that the Eurocrats are conducting their business in Brussels, it's hardly surprising that their model is getting stuck and stomped upon by the likes of Orban, Erdogan and the others from this new wave of Putinesque wannabe Tzars.

When you're being called Viktator and you win one election after another by a landslide, the temptation to concentrate as much power as possible into your hands, and use it as you please, becomes irresistible. In Orban's ears, Viktator may be sounding akin to Terminator rather than dictator.

His problem is, there's no way he could become part of some sort of Eurasian block or anything like that, so he's risking to become increasingly isolated from the rest of Europe. And no matter how powerful the dictator, an economy cannot remain isolated for too long without starting to suffer.

And after all, expecting Europe to just keep tolerating his behaviour is unrealistic.
