Nepal is a major area of commerce and culture. It is one of the emerging superpowers. The only thing keeping them from soaring over the Big White Mountains is their own hubris. And Commies. Wait, what? You have no idea what is going on in Sherpaville?

Nepal became a republic when a young prince shot, killed, murdered and otherwise wiped out the King and nearly the entire royal family before turning the gun on himself. Next in line to the throne became King rather reluctantly after the tragedy. New king handed royal powers over to government before stepping down ( ... )

I wrote an essay about the royal massacre somewhere on LJ back when King Gyanendra stepped down in 2008. It was funny as I got a comment on it a few months ago.

But I have done considerable research about Nepal over the last year before touring on motorcycles. It's amazing place best seen first person then described.

So you think foreign investment into Nepa'ls infrastructure would lead to more stability, politically?

Aren't the Nepalese typically worried about China a la Tibet?
