This is just... I don't know what to say. "Humbling" is the only word that comes to mind.

Want it or not, you guys will have your cathartic revolution, the way most other East and Central European societies did in the 90s. It's inevitable.

I'm just sorry that this pain had to be protracted for so long. Stay courageous.

"football ultras" sound like the Black Brigade types who often show up at U.S. demonstrations. They are routinely accused of being undercover cops who provoke a police response in order to disrupt protest.

The ruling Socialists and their coalition buddies from the Turk party are accusing the former rulers (center-right, Batman's party) of paying those hooligans some cash to go and disrupt the peaceful protests, in order to provoke a police response, and aggravate people against the government even more. It's what happened back in spring, when Batman himself fell from grace after losing his nerve in response to similar protests.

He probably believes that opposing the Socialists means rooting for him, but he's gravely mistaken. People hate all politicians and all institutions at this point. Sounds familiar, eh?

The irony is that these football hools are behind the two major clubs here, which are arch-rivals. But in smashing heads and looting shops, they seem to be curiously convergent in their goals and methods. Thing is, people are not that stupid - nowadays they tend to detect provocateurs and hand them over to the cops on their own. But last night the ultras were too many, and too well organized. It was definitely a staged operation.

Sounds all too familiar, sadly. I still wonder how "Free Speech Zones" haven't been successfully challenged in court here.

Get the word out. Flyers with names of those caught being provocateurs, etc. Avoid taking their bait.
