I am split on the issue of disabling comments.

Yes, the vitriol starts up waaaay to quickly in the thread and it descends into partisan bickering and finger wagging just too damn quick.

Once the eyes glass over, and you realize you are in a tussle with a stranger over a non-issue in your life, the futility comes back like a sad old dog kicked to the curb. Like baboons banging on keyboards, they devolve to.

But people should have the ability to challenge writer bias, or question the validity of the subject title, sources etc.

Trolling a subject specific professional community like science with bible quotes is as couth as a workingman crashing a party of credentialed professionals you have nothing in common with. A NASCAR forum, vs an astrophysics forum mixes like vinegar and oil.

I assume Pop Sci had no more stomach for those who believe in the power of religion over the reality of science.

We have freedom of speech in the US. Freedome of speech doesn't mean you have to let people come poop on your research. They are perfectly free to start up their own shit slinging website, but in no way does free speech require you to PERSONALLY host the debate.

Exactly. And one thing there isn't a shortage of in the world, are platforms to share your opinions or ideas about any subject if you disagree with ANYTHING.

Climate change is reality, but the mankind influence to the climate is really not proved theory... Climate changed during all Earth's history, and sometites it happened catastrophic

Well, neither is Gravity, for various definitions of "proved".

But, I think its a good bet to plan my life and our culture around the continued "reality" of gravity. It makes sense to do the same for Anthropogenic (man-made) Global Warming.

And this is where I have a hard time taking people seriously. Newton's law of gravity, and Einstein's theory of general relativity, have been tested over and over for 1-3 centuries. They are very well established theories. AGW is nowhere close to that.

Yeah, it's really proved at this point.
