"Education bubble"?

There is a popular conservative motto which is repeated over and over again recently: "education is the next bubble, people have already said. Financing college is the new real estate, and we know how that works out."It has been repeated so frequently that there seem to be a need to address it

Why is getting too much education ever a problem? The difference between the housing market and higher education, besides the speculation already mentioned, is that one is often a requirement for certain professions out there, the biggest of which come to mind is anything in the medical field - you have to be freaking certified in order to become a doctor dammit that is not something that's just going to go away. Education is something you permanently take with you, it isn't a number of extra houses you snatch up with the hopes of selling. One does not equal the other at all
