1400 words from the end of this damn draft and… I realize the novel can not end the way I planned. I can not keep the original ending. It all has to change.

The new ending is, in my humble opinion, awesome. It doesn’t require a lot of re-writing either-it’s just a huge shock.

amazing how the characters sometimes just DO shit! I am finding it is working to have a starting point, a couple middle points, and an end (maybe) and just let things happen in between.

Well, it's not about pirates--which is probably the most crucial thing you have to know about any novel. Editing has started today! The first draft is done. Now is the magic part where I made it read like someone over the age of six penned it.
