The cure is a bullet in the temple.

For the past week I haven’t had a chance to read my friend’s list or reply to my emails.

I’m really sorry about this. I know some people are going through some really big things, from health crisis’s and people in Brisbane and California who are now in disaster zones or have been evacuated. I feel like I’m letting a lot of you down, even though you ( Read more... )

Owie. Much sympathy! It isn't at all a silly ailment, not when it causes you so much pain and inconvenience. Wishing you some sort of relief, oh if only there was a cure!

Preferably the kind of cure that involved taking one tablet and never having to do anything again. Normally TMJ is pretty straightforward to treat, however I've been surprised how many people I know who have had surgery for it.

Yeah. My daughter has PCOS and has the same kind of wish.

I can think of a whole lot of things I could have that wish for.... grin.

We really are in the middle ages of medical treatment though. We've got a long way to go before we reach the point we think we're at.

And we love you, too. Take care of yourself. It sucks that you're in so much pain. I only hope you don't have to undergo surgery. But if push comes to shove, I hope everything goes well. =)

We do have another treatment we're trying first, which is the same treatement as sports athletes get when they have joint injuries. No surgery, but apparently it's very expensive and painful and may not work.

Sigh.

I'm going to give you some pity anyway, because ack. Besides painful, horribly irritating are certainly other words for it!

I think I'm going to have to accept it. Grin.

I've been pretty damn miserable since I posted this. Lots of reading and sleeping.

It's not likely at this stage. However we do have something else to try BEFORE the surgery. Apparently it's painful. Something to look forward to. -.-

as a fellow sufferer of TMJ, you have my deepest sympathies. i've had people literally stare at me while i eat because my jaw clicks so loudly at times. and the pain, well, honestly, i wish i could do something to make you feel better. i know it really, really, really hurts.

i hope you are able to get some relief soon. i've used warm/hot moist compresses on the side of my face in the past. it helps a bit, though not for long.

(hugs)

I've been using deep heat on my jaw, which is effective some of the time. Also, hot water bottles. However it's progressed past that now. I'm pretty much just popping anti-inflamitories like mnms now.

My jaw clicking was worse before, but that's probably because I just can't open my mouth now. It used to sound like snapping bones when I chewed. People DEFINATELY stared at me!

But if you can still eat bread, make sure you do everything you can to get rid of it at that stage, before it progresses to the soup through a straw stage.
