There came a point in book 3 where I, literally, shouted "NO WAY!" and had to put the book down for about an hour and a half before I could resume reading. I read the first 2 books in the series about 6 years ago, then decided, once the series started (and book 5 actually had a firm release date), to do a re-read. I read the first 4 one after the other over the summer, but am finding it hard to jump into book 5 because lord only knows how long it'll be before book 6 is released. I'll be eager to read your review of book 3.
