Of course, Merry and Pippin would never have wanted to spend the centuries with solemn looks on their faces! Why, without smiles, they would be nearly unrecognizable!

I like Sir Theodoc and Sir Faramir!

What a lovely story, Pearl. It's not sad at all, but gentle and sweet in remembrance. The 'ceremony' at the end is just wonderful. But I think this was my favorite passage:

It is where I shall lie in my final rest,” King Elessar responded as his tears also ran. “It was the highest honor left that I could bestow upon them. They knew of my wish and gladly granted it.” The King smiled a soft smile. “They agreed between them it was best that way, so my eternal rest might not become too dull.”

That was beautiful, Pearl! The love and laughter of Faramir and Theo is so typical of our beloved hobbits. No doubt, Pippin and Merry would not want to be remembered with frowns on their faces. :-) The commemoration was sweet.

p.s. If you want to "talk" to Kali do it quick! I'm beginning to lose my patience...

Reading this brought mingled tears and joy--very well done. Am feeling pensive, having just passed my long-departed mother's birthday, and this was a comfort. It is a good thing to focus on the joy and not the sorrow.

This rang so very true!
Finally, they had simply set a date and told everyone else they would have to work around it.

I enjoyed seeing that Aragorn still has some hobbits to keep him company. I also liked that Theodoc and Faramir have both earned the titles their fathers held for themselves. It seemed very realsitic to me that Merry and Pippin would have wanted their sons to serve the kings as they had done, and to learn about the world outside the Shire.
