I love the way Merry and Sam talk about the door to bag End and share their memories. It seems so natural. I enjoyed this very much and Rose was dear in it with her talk about 'children of all ages' when they mentioned the fireworks.
Thank you! "Natural" is a good word to see in a review, truly. And I think Rose was quoting myself, actually...although I'm not sure if it was from a family gathering or the staff room at school. :)
Lovely. There aren't enough scenes between Merry and Sam, and this conversation is very sweet and natural. Oh, and I can totally picture Merry and Pippin in their fetching new hats! :D
That was just lovely! I can understand how that sweet scene at the end of ROTK could inspire this wonderful tale. I do enjoy Sam and Merry's friendship! The whole scene from Merry walking in the door all the way to Rosie volunteering to clear up was done brilliantly and very smoothly. Wonderful!
Well, at first I thought maybe Peter had forgotten that Sam lived at Bag End at that point, but then I thought, "nah..." and decided it was the back door to the place. I'm glad the flow of the storytelling worked well, as I was somewhat unsure of that.
Many thanks! The front door thing was interesting, because I saw the photo and sighed, and then at 11:30 p.m., just as I was going to sleep, had to get up and jot down the idea. Good thing I have an understanding husband... :)
