Wow! This is very powerful. I love the way Frodo steps in when Merry has gone too far, so gentle and compassionate with Pippin and very hard with Merry.

As Merry stared into Frodo’s normally bright blue eyes, he thought he saw a flash of gold within them followed by a nearly imperceptible hiss of laughter on the wind, but it was gone in an instant and Merry dismissed immediately as silliness brought on from his astonishment.

This was a very nice exploration of the effect the Ring is having on Frodo, and Merry's reaction to what he saw is very nicely done as well. :)

Oooooooh! Cold chills up the spine! I love stories where the Ring has an effect on the other hobbits by their very proximity to it, and this one was especially disturbing for the cruel words it brought out in both Merry and Frodo. Lovely portrait of my poor sweet little Pippin with tears in his eyes, and I love the Frodo you showed us in being so gentle with his wounded feelings. Very well done!

Oh! This was almost shocking to read, and very well done. It`s good that Frodo stepped in when he thought Merry went too far, and his reaction was very powerful.

I really enjoyed this--very chilling, in many ways. The conflict was well done. Thank you!

I was so tickled to see Frodo take Merry to task for his treatment of Pippin and the situation. Frodo is the elder cousin and absolutely felt himself responsible for his younger cousins and Sam. It did seem to me that both he and Merry overreacted somewhat, though. I like how you connected Frodo's actions to the influence of the Ring, though I would have liked that to be made a little clearer. A little more suspenseful and ominous, I suppose. A strongly written, strongly characterized story.
