I think this may be my favorite chapter yet. The words flow so beautifully, and the tidbits of trivia we get along the way is endlessly entertaining; I feel like I'm constantly learning new things thanks to Charles's Scientist musings.

This is so wonderfully, heartbreakingly, distrubingly good and there's only one chapter left! (Well, there's just one chapter left at the moment). I'm currently debating with myself if I want to read the next chapter and know what happens when Erik visits (if he visits!?!) or if I want to draw this out even longer. Because this fic is just that excellent.

I completely love your way of writing Raven and Charles - the way they trust yet don't trust each other and clearly feel a deep, sibling-type love... Every time Raven encourages Charles to hang in there and 'change' Erik, I feel so sorry for both her and Charles.

I think this chapter really made clear to me what a fucking HERO Charles is. Despite everything, he's still trying to FIGHT. To THINK. Despite misery and pleasure and hopelessness and Erik's relentless seduction, Charles is still holding onto the inch of Charles that is CHARLES. And Raven..ugh...her partronizing concern for him...I get it...but I did so hate her here.

Oh goodness! I mean, I did think it was in character for Raven though? I mean she *did* choose to become part of the Brotherhood for a reason, and not a very nice one, and really doesn't know the truth. So, does "I get it but urgh" basically mean that? :o (still planning to reply to rest, but not at the computer right now)
