X-Gal versus Lac Operon and the Plasmid Gang

Aug 20, 2011 09:12

It's a lovely morning, sitting here with a thunderstorm rumbling in the background and the sounds of rain and Edith Piaf.

I've gotten more written in Utopia, including quite a lot of plot and then at some point I started talking about X-Gal only to, later on, realize that wait a moment, X-Gal totally sounds like the name of an X-Men character ( Read more... )

am i... ginger?, writing, i wanted this to be all artsy, xmfc, 40k, photos

I love you for forever making "X-gal" associated with this fandom in my mind. <3<3<3

PS isn't it sort of a foregone conclusion that the Lac Operon will win?

Oh my God, so X-gal is totally Shaw, and the Lac Operon is Erik. Because without Shaw, Erik's powers would never have become as strong as they were - you could say they were "activated" by Shaw, though obviously the potential was always there. ............also this is a horribly inappropriate comment and I am way overthinking it, but does that make Erik's mother the lac repressor?

But in the end Shaw is killed by Erik (as X-gal is broken down by β-galactosidase, produced by the Lac Operon)!

Also I guess that makes Charles and the others the Plasmid Gang! (Aaaand now I want to make all the dirty jokes about restriction enzymes and ligating to each other all night long)

((safkd;fkd;flds oh my god what is this. Sorry. I need to stop thinking about this. Oh my god my brain what is wrong with it? But this is way more entertaining than the homework I am meant to be doing.))

Oh, you! XD Well, gene cloning will never be the same!

Do the restriction enzymes leave sticky ends? Because if so then

I had no idea that you had been accepted into the Ginger fold, I am thrilled you're one of us! Gooble Gobble.

Also, is it creepy? Your hair is really cute, I don't know if that's what you were going for but I like it, I wish my hair would do that, alas mine just kinda does whatever it wants whenever it wants. But either way. Yay hair, yay ginger.

Oh my induction was very recent! I suppose it makes sense though because my skin, too, hates sunlight (I am still pink from going to California and searing my skin off a month ago).

Noooo that is a compliment! I mean I wasn't trying to make my hair like, badass or weird or anything. ;) Mine also just does whatever it wants, it's just that I've learned to kind of use it to my advantage? Or rather my hairdresser made it so. I mean all I do is slick it with gel, let it dry, break up the gel, and then run my hands through it periodically. I'm terrible at hair. XD

I had no idea that you were ginger!

I am glad to hear that it wasn't too long ago, I guess I must have missed the last ginger meeting. ;)

I am terrible at hair and while short hair might work better I had short hair in high school and for eight months I kept having people from the back and sides think I was a boy. I am now terrified of short hair and keep it unruly and long.

I am a ginger. Even have an Irish shamrock tattoo, I guess someday I'll have to be bothered to post a picture.

Hahaha, you must have! XD Honestly I'm not that red but eh. You should totally post a picture!

Mm yes I have been mistaken as a boy but not so much now that it's just a little bit longer. The cut around the ears and the back of your neck is important; I couldn't tell you how exactly but it is. I love not having to brush though, it's great! :D

Oh so I started reading Fahrenheit 451 again today for the first time in ages and I thought you might like this quote:

She had a very thin face like the dial of a small clock seen faintly in a dark room in the middle of the night when you waken to see the clock telling you the hour and the minute and the second, with a white silence and a glowing, all certainty and knowing what it had to tell of the night passing swiftly on toward further darknesses, but moving also toward a new sun.

Also, I am VERY excited about Utopia. I'm not away this weekend so throw me anything you've written?

Sure thing! I think I'm almost done with the current scene so you should get it sometime tomorrow? Sooner or later. I think. D:
