Speaking of silverfish, today I was rummaging through some papers and envelopes in my closet and one totally ran out right by my hand. Eewwwwwwww. I hate silverfish. D
( Read more... )
Silverfish are the bane of my existence, and are a huge problem in libraries (especially special collections.) I bring this up because though I do not wish to belittle your suffering I hope the story will make you laugh. (If I seem like I'm belittling your silverfish troubles feel free to catch a few and mail them to me ;) )
Anyway, Archives Prof got a donation someone assured him was top quality. He lifted off the lid (as he tells it but he is prone to hyperbole) pulled out the first book and HUNDREDS of silverfish just seemed to melt out of the book.
He insisted, when he told us the story, that more were appearing all the time.
In better news: YAY EASEL. I don't draw or do anything arty but I love easels I dunno why. I love when people display art on easels too just because I adore them. Yes, I am a dork. welcome. :)
Yeeeah, that's part of the reason I hate them. >| I hear that the people who manage my new apartment have bug problems and have to spray all the time, but the walls are concrete so as long as there are no silverfish I will be happy. *pets books*
Haha, nice. XD I've told that story to a couple of people already, when talking about my silverfish woes. That would be absolutely horrifying! I hate how they stain stuff too when you squish them. =P
Oooh, yes, it will be so nice to do art when I can just have it out and waiting all the time, and not have to put everything away under my bed or into the closet. I got the second-biggest one I could, so it can hold something four feet tall. 8D I won't have to tape my big drawings to the wall anymore!
At least they know that silverfish are a problem and doing something about it. Better than them pretending like it's not a problem and not doing anything about it. Right?
Yeah, ew. I always hate any kind of bug that squishs, stains, or crunches when you smush them.
Eeeee the easel sounds great. *flail* You'll have to do some huge drawing to celebrate the fact you can now <3
Actually I think they don't really have many silverfish there; the person I talked to who does cleaning for the company said that there are ladybugs and cockroaches and things (cockroaches aren't really such a big deal up here in Wisconsin, I think; they're rather unusual) but so long as they don't have the infestation of silverfish like we have in this house, I am content, and anyways most of the bugs should leave me alone if I'm clean and yes, they do spray for bugs. P=
Ahh, I had a big spider last night. I have this book called "Dairy Queen" that I had to read for a class but don't really like, but is turning out to be very handy for swatting bugs.
I haven't actually taken the easel out yet. << I don't really have room! But one of the things I want to maybe do once I move in is repaint this giant 6'x4' painting that I did a couple years ago with something new. ^^

I didn't do anything yesterday either… maybe it was something in the air. Maybe too much carbon monoxide! Yes, that's it.
