I brought my new pale yellow roses to work today. They actually have a nice scent. (My other store-bought roses have no smell.) I tried to find out the name of the variety by going to the web site of the vendor on the tag, but none of the roses quite fit the description. Unless it turns out that my roses are double or semi-double and I can't tell.

I haven't been on LJ in ages, so I'm glad to hear that things seem to be going well at your new (well, relatively new) job.
I'd say that the rose in your icon is a semi-double and that a single rose has only five petals.
As for the cute little rodent (mouse?) picture, I don't know if it will achieve world peace, but I do know that if I go to Cute Overload, I won't get anything done for a day (or maybe a week). If only the average dictator was as entranced by pictures of cute animals as I am....

That desert looked awfully good. I haven't had any sugary junk in a couple of weeks (I'm a type 2 diabetic and pretty good about sticking to sugar-free stuff), but tomorrow is Tom's birthday, so we'll probably go out to dinner, and maybe I'll splurge.
