Picspammy challenge: Around the Med in 70 Days.

Jan 26, 2010 17:59

In the summer of 2009, I joined about 700 other students on Semester at Sea's 99th voyage. In 70 days we conquered 10 countries around the Mediterranean.
Picture credit: The vast majority of these pictures are my own. Also included, however, are pictures taken by akikotree, p3pp3rcorn, and blackjesamine.

Oh you must! This trip was probably one of the best investments I could have made. I loved Italy, especially the two days I spent in Rome. Greece was great too. The best sorbet I've ever had was at a little shop in Athens. :)

Thanks so much!

Oh my god, wonderful picspam! Seems like you had a great time!

May I ask which places did you visit in Bulgaria, except for Nessebar which I think I recognize? :)

Thanks!

I was in Nessebar, sharp eyes you have there! I was a little overwhelmed by all the beach-goers, but the old part of the town was beautiful. Other than that, we were primarily in Varna (more beach-goers! lol). My friend and I also tried to get to a music festival in Veliko Tarnovo, but misread the bus schedules and in the end couldn't figure it out so we stuck around Varna.

Yes, the old part is amazing. Shame you couldn't go to Veliko Tarnovo, its old town is also very beautiful, the houses, the fortress and everything. I hope that overall you had a great time here. :)

Yeah, I've heard that about Veliko Tarnovo from a couple of other people I've met, so now I'm even more disappointed than I was at the time. There's always a next time, though! :)

Wonderful idea! And you were at al the places? Where did you enjoy it the most?

Thank you!

Yes, I was in all the places. It was a great trip, a bit of a whirlwind though. :) I think overall, I enjoyed Turkey the most. Well, more specifically Istanbul. The food was great, I loved meeting all of the people, and it was just beautiful. The mix of cultures there was so cool to observe, too. Egypt was also a very pleasant surprise in that I liked it a lot and found it was less scary (if that's a good word?) than I was warned/had anticipated, or something. Lol.

Wow, that sounds really great. I never was so far away from Germany. Only in the neighbour countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Austria) and 1 hour in Calais (France) and 1 week in London. But since I'm so in love with that city. ♥

I went to Berlin almost a year ago. It was my first time in continental Europe (I'd been to Ireland and London, but never anywhere else) and I loved it. We also spent a few days in Prague as well - it was beautiful there!

And London is one of my favorite cities that I've ever been to. So I totally understand your love for it. Your icon makes me miss it! :)
