Strictly Business [rp thread for questionorigin]

A week had passed since the library fundraiser. The mayor was at the doctor's getting the major bandages removed from his shoulder wound. He'd been regaining his strength in the last few days, which Dalia was glad for, since that meant she wasn't needed as much. He wouldn't need the sling any more and he would be self-sufficient again. They still hadn't discussed what had occurred after the fundraiser. She was guessing that he had no memory of it - that the painkillers did their job very well. Dalia wouldn't mention it unless he did. Much as she hated wondering and the confused feelings she kept trying to tell herself didn't exist, she didn't want to ruin their working relationship or either of their jobs.

There was another situation, however, that couldn't go ignored much longer.

Strohman Chemicals - the Crane family's front company - wanted a meeting with the mayor. The point of contact was Duela. Dalia was still livid at Joshua for his behavior at the fundraiser and couldn't understand how her sister could condone whatever the Cranes had planned. Then again, she reminded herself, Duela was one of the Cranes.

Since the mayor was out, Dalia thought it would be the perfect time to contact Duela. She went into his office and closed the door to be sure that she wasn't overheard by Kyle or Sheila. After sitting down at his desk, she picked up the phone and dialed Duela's business phone number.
