Between working at a job that requires actual work, doing night classes in Arabic because they are free due to aforementioned job, Zumba, pilates, writing, alcohol binge drinking, tea binge drinking, watching Eternal Law and Grimm on repeat, and trying desperately to find decent fic to read I sometimes feel like I might be overdoing things a tad.

It sounds hectic! In a good way! I completely agree - this stretch of no work is driving me up the wall and my sleeping pattern is shot again. Busy = good. And there is fun exercise and interesting learning along with it at least? Speaking of which - how is free Arabic lessons part of your work?!

Also, why does it feel like a countdown? Is the job on a timed contract? (Although, I agree. I know I won't know the people at this gig for more than a few months, so I'm not making friends with them too closely...

I work at a University and the people in my department get all evening classes free. We are lucky.

It's one year contract covering maternity leave so I'm almost positive I won't be able to stay on, sadly...

I just wish I could actually find time to take a day off.

Randomly butting in to say that I worked to cover maternity leave once in New Zealand and, at the end of the contract, they offered me a full-time job. They even offered to sponsor me and organise a permanent work visa for me, which was random because as far as I could see there wasn't actually any work for me to do once the original woman was back. Sadly, at the time I had obligations in the UK which meant I had to decline, but permanent work offers from temp contracts do happen!

Also, free classes, ugh, I'm jealous.

Well, I shall remain hopeful, but I just don't think there's the work or the budget for another person when the other person comes back. I also can't afford to take a chance on being unemployed again so will have to start looking for work well before my contract expires.

It's a great perk, and I am using it to its fullest!

Wow, I've gotten the impressions from twitter you've been busy but seriously, CRAZY busy is more like it! ^_- But yay that the job is going well!

One of these days I need to catch up on Grimm (I'm two or three eps behind) and if anyone takes you up on that Natsume/Tanuma fic you'll have to let me know because that would be a wonderful wonderful thing!

How are things going for you?

I love Grimm. It's incredibly entertaining. I have even started to like the main character. His boringness is starting to look endearing. I signed up to the Grimm exchange, and am going to sign up for the Natsume exchange too probably. :D

Oh! This must be the angel and tentacle monster's bb when he's grown up a bit. SO CUTE!! ♥

University work is great. You're better than me though, taking Arabic like that. I'm a lazy twat and don't want to walk the 15 minutes to campus in the cold. Also, it still costs money to go to classes, albeit a paltry $225 per class.

So I take it Grimm is a good show? And I also agree there needs to be some good Natsume/Tanuma fic. The fandom is majorly lacking in that regard.

Does the job have an option for an extension, or is it a one-term project funded through the year?

I am certainly enjoying the perks of university work. So many opportunities! It's only maternity cover but it's still pretty great.

Good is a bit of a strong word. I enjoy it though. A lot. It's like badfic. And as I mentioned above, I have signed up for the Grimm fic exchange, and I will also be signing up for the Natsume exchange. Because clearly I need more things to do.
