have you tried haw flakes? your british tongue will absolutely loathe it. i gnaw through a tube of it every night before i sleep, like suckling on to your mother's teat which is gross now at this age. haw flakes replaces that act that we were forced into as infants to grow into toddlers.

saw John Cooper Clarke 'read poetry' once. he was drunk and they had to politely but firmly get him off the stage when he overran his time. it was the deepest darkest winter night but he was wearing sunglasses.

He was my brother's neighbour in Colchester, Essex (mine too then as I managed to stay there half a year... almost?) Brother didn't know who he was and I can't remember what I *really* thought it all -- that he *might* have been a hardcore JCC fan? Hardcore enough to have *exactly* the same features and boots.

Colchester has a lot of potential for poets though. Because there's nothing else to do. And o those bracing winds and walks into country made easy. A uni library. And a uni w/ the UK's highest uni suicide rate suggests what: It attracts unhappy people / makes people unhappy?

(O, and our other (more part-time) neighbour could well have been Nick Cave. But that was toooo much of a coincidence as he's also apparently taken room next to my old gaff, down Brighton innit.)

Confirmed: John Cooper Clark wore sunglasses when he pushed his daughter on the swings. And in the supermarket. I never saw him buy Sugar Puffs.
