dhampyresa asked: Are there any figures you've come across in your studies that you think are lgbt, for any reason?I love this question, but it's also... surprisingly difficult to answer? I think this has to do with the material, in more ways than one; with fictional characters there's a comprehensive narrative and inside perspective, while historical ( Read more... )

That. Is. Fabulous! You story is totally not boring, come on; the double impact of your two posts though! Lolling forever @ semen with ego and the rest AND feeling educated. Please to be offering us more highly instructive and hilarious ancient history! Thanks for sharing)

I just felt like I rambled a lot-- I always tend to worry I'm boring people when I talk too much about things I'm interested in. I'm so happy you enjoyed it though!! Egyptian mythology tends to be a bit more inaccessible to people, for a number of reasons, but it's very interesting and sometimes hilarious.

Semen with ego slayed me when I first read it. I'm familiar with the myth and was totally expecting it to speak, but I didn't expect it to start arguing. I had to stop reading it aloud because I couldn't stop laughing (but then gf reacted the same way so). |D

I'm not sure I know anything in all of Egypt-dom that can compete with talking semen, but I'll definitely be writing more about ancient history. :3

I can see why you live an Ancient Egyptian life:) Well, it's Horus's fault to talking to his Mum about his sex life, lol.

I was OBSESSED with ancient Egypt when I was 9-11, being back in the saddle and discovering I still love it is... strange, but also great.

lol to be fair, he was raised in the wilderness of the Delta marshes. Don't think he met many girls or boys there. Did he talk to anyone who wasn't his mother. I'm kind of concerned.

Aw poor Horus. Maybe the Grendel came round to visit one day?

YESSSSSSSSSSS This is everything I wanted and more, although technically both Seth and Horus had sex with a dude, given that they had sex with each other. Also, "queer" was the word i was going for, it just slipped my mind.

Please tell us more queer (hi)stories!

lol TRUE I zoned in on Seth mostly because he's always the one who takes the initiative... and probably because I've spent an hour every day this week at the library reading a book about him. Horus either runs off to his mum asking what to do or has sex and then runs off to tell his mum (the most complete retelling of this myth is a bit rape-y, but the language is so stilted it's hard to tell).

I will! Actually I stumbled upon a lesbian love spell from the Graeco-Roman period in Egypt a couple of days ago, thought I was gonna post it as soon as I've caught up on days.
