Why? It's one of the most common questions in the Help forum over there, so I'm trying to spread the word.

The fact that you can only change your username once in a blue moon is dumb. There are very good reasons not to change it very often, but if you do want to change it, you should be allowed.

Oh, I thought you meant the fact that I was posting it was dumb.

Yeah, CosCom is like that. Part of it was last time they updated the site (4 years ago?) they coded some things to be linked to username instead of member id, which made name changes way more difficult than they should be with a forum.
But yeah, other forums get around the "other people don't know who you are" issue by putting past usernames in the profile, and limiting name changes to every 6 months or something.
