I've been looking through graphics tutorials today, experimenting with different tools and layers, and a made a few things. I really loved these caps so thought I'd post them. Caps from gallicka.
Here was the original cap, and then my edited cap. Caps usually look really muddy, so I used layers to bring out the light and colors. I loved both of their expressions.
Yeah, sure! I looked at a bunch yesterday, although I didn't follow any of them exactly. I've picked up bits and pieces of things over the years, so I was mostly just looking at the tutorials so I could experiment with new tools. Like, why did they do this step and what effect does it add to the overall look. There's so much of Photoshop that I'm completely in the dark about.
I was mostly looking at the "Ask the Iconmaker" posts at icon_talk. Here's the tag. They'll set up the post andthen iconmakers just start their own thread and invite people to ask them questions. A lot of people request tutorials on how to make certain icons or use certain tools. So I just spent ages browsing the threads and looking at tutorials. A lot of them assuming a certain degree of proficiency with Photoshop, so some of the steps are like, "And then just fiddle with color balance a bit to even out the colors and get rid of some of the red..." and I'm like, "WAIT, BACK UP." lol. But some are more newbie-friendly, which was nice. :)

Would you mind sharing where you found those graphics tutorials? 'cause I love the result of it, and I wish I could do that too. :)

That third icon is perfect, because we get to see both their expressions.
