Christmas Party: The Helper

Dec 24, 2006 08:00

Here we are, friends, Christmas Eve, and with it the apex of the 2006 Think About It Central Christmas Party. I really hope you've enjoyed this month-long journey through all things Christmas it struck my fancy to write about -- I know I've had a great time putting it together.

But now, for the pinnacle. Those of you who have been with me for a few years no doubt have heard me tell this story before -- bear with me, please, for a moment, as I set the stage for new friends. Many years ago, a writer named Philip Van Doren Stern decided to compose an original short story and send it as his Christmas Card for the year. A copy of the story fell into the hands of director Frank Capra and, ultimately, became my favorite Christmas movie of all time, It's a Wonderful Life. When I heard the story, I thought it was a great idea, and every year since, it's been my tradition to compose a new story of my own every year. So here's this year's story, friends, my Christmas Gift to each and every one of you. Please enjoy...

May you all have the Merriest of Christmases, and a Happy New Year. There won't be any new TAIC feature on Monday, seeing as how that's Christmas Day, but if you're missing something, feel free to browse through the Christmas Party Checklist. Or, if you haven't read them before, treat yourself to stories from Christmases Past:

Lonely Miracle: Christmas 2000
Clarence Missed: Christmas 2001
Pencil Sketches: Christmas 2002
JLZX622: Christmas 2003
Promise: Christmas 2004
And of course, last year's original novella, The Long November
Part One -- Part Two -- Part Three

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THINK ABOUT IT CENTRAL!

christmas party, christmas
