Think About It Halloween Party: Superpail!

I'm a good 29 years old, friends. I haven't gone trick-or-treating in a good... heck, it must be four or five years now. But despite that, when I saw the item I'm about to tell you about at my local retailing place of convenience, I knew I simply had to have it. I may to be trick-or-treating, I may not have any practical use for it, but I knew it must be mine. That's right, guys, I could only be talking about...

The Superman Returns trick-or-treat pail! Back when I was a kid, see, you really only had two choices for how to collect your candy on Halloween night. You either had a plastic orange Jack-o-Lantern, or your pillowcase. That started to change a little when McDonalds' began putting out its October happy meals in plastic buckets that were to be used for trick-or-treating, and expanded the line from the classic pumpkin to include items like ghosts and witches as well. But in the years since then, the variety has begun to astound me -- plastic bags are popular, and niclude not just your traditional Halloween icons like the aforementioned pumpkins, ghosts and witches, but cartoon characters and pop culture phenomenon of all stripes. Still, there's something a little more satisfying about getting your candy in an actual bucket of sorts, so the Jack-o-Lantern has been joined by everything from witches' cauldrons to Spider-Man's head.

Still, I've never felt the need to own a trick-or-treat pail until now. This pail, which the photograph doesn't even remotely do justice to, is cast in the classic pentagon of Superman's S-shield, as rendered in the film Superman Returns, and set in blue plastic with a funky little pyramid shape at the bottom to give it something to stand on. It's not enormous, but it's about the same size as Spidey's head or your classic Jack-o-Lantern. Still, kids who choose the S for their trick-or-treating needs will probably do so because it matches their costume, and they'll have mom and dad in the background with a sack in reserve to dump it out when it gets filled up. A cool trick-or-treat pail? Undeniably. But Halloween, for a trick-or-treater, isn't just about cool. It's also about volume.
