Pick a color and then just draw with it! And if you play around with the controls on the right you can change the intensity, span, etc. It's really cool.

Also play with the drop-down 'presets' menu, you can even make it be worms, it's cool to watch them move across the screen. :D

Oh! Does it take a few moments/minutes for the color to show up? I'm used to playing around (not much) with Photoshop or whatever, where the colors show up immediately.

It should start showing up right away. If you click down and hold down, the nebula will spread from the mouse point outward, and if you click and drag around, it will spread wherever you drag.
