I adore this. It totally works for my future canon, absolutely.

I loved the snapshot of the boys at the end, but I almost love this part more:

but every now and then we get a family that needs a place to crash a while, and they work just fine. Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, cousins; they never seem to come in whole sets. They tend to be timid and suspicious. They like to keep to themselves, and we let them.

That really evokes for me the victims/survivors, and I love that Sam thought of a place to send them where they'd be safe, and also give the townspeople another way to help.

Also funny that Dean was absent for his birthday fic. ;) But I bet along with the lasagna, there was pie. <3
