6.06: You Can't Handle the Truth

Nov 02, 2010 18:07

Bad things always happen there. (MBV, anyone?) If it was a real place you could not pay me to eat there. *shudders* This poor girl!

Most of the time when I’ve seen the Truth Spell thing done on tv shows, it is either reversed so that the cursed person always has to tell the truth, or else the cursed person can aim it at certain people and they just ( Read more... )

This episode was so friggin perfect. I really am starting to think season 6 will be my favorite! They have been seamlessly tying together mytharc and MOTW plots every episode now!

gosh, it's good to hear someone say that! :D Show has never let me down yet... no reason it should start now, is my feeling!

I think it's all starting to come together. I kind of feel like the season is FLYING by, though, ahhh. *makes grabby hands* COME BACK, SEASON!!!

Interesting meta- you brought up a lot of intriguing points I hadn't considered. I've been really enjoying this season and I can't wait to see how it all fits together!

(I missed reading your previous speculation on why Dean seems to be a monster magnet and how Sam serves as an obstacle to that. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the subject. I understand your not wanting to repeat everything again - is there a particular past meta you could point me to? I'd appreciate it!)

I too would like a link to this meta, if you are willing to give it out.

Thanks for reading!

It's hard to pin down, really. I've been trying to think of a single good one to recommend, but blacklid and I have been saying ever since season 4 that Dean is just as 'special' as Sam, etc - we've never done one concrete meta on it, it's really just more like we've mentioned it at least once a review for the last 2 years, lol. Maybe we should try to do a specific one one of these days ...

Essentially, if Sam is the Omega ... doesn't that make Dean the alpha? *chinhands*

After 6.01, I was a little iffy about S6. But this episode made me a believer. There is so much to meta about, and I've been reading a bunch of reviews, enjoying the many layers that this season is beginning to offer.

I think it must be difficult for Jared to play Sam as Sam without empathy. Considering that Sam's defining trait is that he is very emotional, it must be hard. And I think Jared and Jensen have only gotten better.

It definitely gets the ticker thinking, that's for sure. :)

Oh, totally. Not only is it playing Sam without empathy, it's playing Sam without empathy pretending to have empathy and having it STILL feel 'off'. WE have to know he's pretending but other people aren't supposed to notice. I have no IDEA how you'd attack a script like that. He's rocking it.

*loves all over him*

I guess Dean has never said that he is a killer in so many words, but it's certainly not a new idea for his character: "Killing that guy, killing Meg. I didn’t hesitate, I didn’t even flinch. For you or Dad, the things I’m willing to do or kill, it’s just, uh .... it scares me sometimes." -- 1.22, Devil's Trap, after he shoots (his first?) demon-possessed human.

I think one thing that is coming around to being a big theme of s6 is how close to being Monsters Hunters themselves are. I mean, it's something Show has toyed with before, but it's going a lot farther now.

Ooh, I really like that Castiel quote from 4.21.... I've been thinking that sam as wendigo doesn't make any sense, since he's not a cannibal..... but now I see that's because I was thinking in terms of Long Pig instead of blood. eek!

This is a great review of a great episode. Nice work!
