I found that part of the Rising Son comics really disturbing - that Dean could have killed a person at such a young age. Well done for showing how this might have affected him in a little more detail than the comic did! And, of course, for demonstrating how Dean could justify his actions because he did it to protect Sammy. Awww. Just the right amount of schmoop too!

Oh, so it IS in Rising Son? The journal takes from both, so it's hard to tell since I haven't read Rising Son yet. :-)

(I'm waiting on the collective book, comics last about 3 seconds in my house before the cat destroys them, lol)

thanks very much for your take on this story! fannish writing is SO MUCH BETTER than published writing when it comes to shows -- WHY IS THAT. And you have proven the rule!!

LOL, well, to be fair to the Journal, I feel that it is written very well in that it seems like JOHN is writing it.

But John don't write all purty like us. ;-)

I remembered that part from the Journal. I love the way you brought such a terse entry to life and got into Dean's head. These lines especially grabbed me:
Dean knows it’s raining because there are droplets falling on his hands. They make the red go away. I never miss with my gun. It doesn’t usually rain inside the car.

He starts shaking then, not because he’s a baby, but because he must be cold.

He can’t touch Sammy until they’re clean. Oh, Dean...you started breaking my heart so early.

I love the journal, I may do more of these as the muse demands. ;-)
