U.S. Navy of 1915

I just came across this.  It is a restored eleven minute fragment of a documentary film made in 1915 about the US Navy.  Its purpose was to argue against Isolationism.  Aside from it being silent and in black and white, it looks very fresh.  Yet this is a world that is completely gone now. Technology, people.  Only the ocean remains the same.

...and then to think about the level of technology it took to restore, then to display on digital media an artifact of the two of the most important (new) technologies of 1915: submarine engineering and motion pictures.
