All the hairs were standing up on the back of his neck, and it wasn't the cold. He turned his head a precise ten degrees to the left, which moved his face towards the door, but more importantly made the patch clear the curve of his head. He dragged the gain all the way up with his thumbnail, but didn't immediately spot whatever was making his skin prickle.
So he took the calculated risk of turning more, presenting his profile and putting one of his hands into view.
Still nothing.
Analysis time: was it worth standing up, getting out of the tavern and risking being jumped by something he couldn't see, or should he stay seated, not let on?
