"Sir?" one of his levs said from the door, and Ruslan glanced up from the inventory list. Saw it was Timofey Bogushevskii, his stars still gleaming at his collar, his cuffs, and put the list down on the magnetic strip.
"What've we got?" he asked, and Bogushevskii made a face.
"Rotmistr Nikolaievich has Markovich and a couple of the nickels in the brig."
Ruslan winced, closed down the crate he'd been cross-checking against the inventory list. Locked it, and Bogushevskii gave way gracefully as he threaded himself out the door. Bogushevskii fell into step a half-pace behind him after the infinitesimal pause they'd all learned aboard Alexandr Donskii, off-set towards the light traffic in the corridor ( ... )

I love the little details you use to show that they don't really depend on gravity as a sure thing.
"Rotmistr Nikolaievich has Markovich and a couple of the nickels in the brig."
My brain will insist on translating that as Markovich and some loose change.

Love that turn of phrase. Though it does bring to mind an embroidery circle...which I'm not sure if it was intentional or not. So.
