He was never, ever going to get the grit out of his mouth. Ever, he thought viciously, and yanked on the lever again, throwing as much mass as he could muster onto the end, and the big rock finally shifted enough to shove a smaller rock under it to hold it there while he moved the lever.
He could smell the water stronger, now, a damp tang in the back of his mouth, past the grit and the frustration. He'd get there.
