I'M POSTING THIS HERE TOO, AS WELL AS musicessay, BECAUSE I WANTED YOU GUYS TO KNOW MY DECISION AS WELL.

If you don't have me on Twitter, you probably don't know how much I've been /agonizing/ about whether or not I should continue writing fanfiction. I don't want this to be some big suspense post, so yes, I've decided I will continue :) And I'd also like to ( Read more... )

Good for you!

I'll be honest - I used to think RPF was weird, too, but over the last 8 months or so as I've become obsessed with Arashi fic, I realized that it's no less weird than any other kind of fanfiction.

There are people who think slash is weird and people who think all fanfiction is weird... and yet I bet those same people would happily read a something like "The Wind Done Gone" or "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" OR "Rosencratz and Gildenstern are Dead" all of which are basically just fanfiction of out of copyright works published for money.

I'm on a roll here! LOL!

If anybody ever gives you shit about writing RPF just point out that RPF has won the Oscar before... "Shakespeare in Love" is basically just that. So write on!

I don't even honestly think about them when I write. It's almost like they are characters to me.

I kinda feel the same way about the characters in my fic. They're inspired by real people, but they're simply my impressions of the real people, and for all I know my impressions might even be wrong. But it's how I perceive them, and how I portray them in fic. ^^

I'M GLAD THAT YOU'RE STILL WRITING BUT :c oh bb. People who think RPF is creepy and weird should at least familiarize themselves with RPF writers and fic before actually making judgments. I feel like most people who write RPF recognize that yes, the stories are about real people who exist - but it's the portrayal they have in the media that we work off of. And in the media, they're already creating their own character, and most of what we write based off real people relies on fanservice and things like that - they're encouraging us to ship them and buy more of their stuff, so why can't we write fic of them, for our own pleasure? Fanfiction has always existed, whether about real people or fictional people; bookshop wrote a post about unnoticed fanfiction already published and in the media!

Anyways, when we write fic, everyone's a character. We're not writing about real people anymore, we're just writing about characters \o/ Whether it's fanfiction, RPF, or original :'D
