Reviewing books

Keeping a book journal of a sort, I couldn't help noticing how much easier it is to write about a book you didn't like than the one you did. The longest entry I ever wrote was about Tom Clancy's Red Rabbit, which I found annoying, untruthful and altogether detestable. Often there's not a lot more you can write to say why you like it. Something annoying, on the other hand, can leave one wishing to blow off steam, sometimes at great length1
