It was simply by chance that Allen was the first (aside from Lenalee herself) to arrive. He had been wandering when Lenalee had asked him to attend this little get-together, and it seemed he wasn't far from the lounge...not far enough to get lost, at least. Upon arriving, he was quite pleased to see the setup; he smelled food, he saw food, and he was definitely going to eat the food.
He glanced at all the dishes...rice, soups, other various meals. Soba. He saw soba. His brain plotted: They had soba. Kanda liked soba. If there was no soba, Kanda couldn't have any. Allen liked soba. If Allen ate all the soba before Kanda arrived, Kanda could have any!
With the slightest grin that could be described as possibly ominous, Allen sat himself down, making sure to grab a plate or four of soba. He looked up at Lenalee, obviously thankful for the meal.
"Wow, Lenalee," he commented with a kind smile. "You made all of this, right? I'm surprised you did all this just for a get together!"
Lenalee turned when she saw Allen's hands reaching for the plates, and smiled at him. She hadn't expect him to be the first into the room, but she wasn't that surprised either. Where ever there was food, Allen wasn't too far behind. He was just as predictable as ever.
"There are five of us coming, so I thought we'd need enough food for all of us." she responded, watching as he pulled multiple plates of soba from the tray. "Oh-- don't eat them all, Allen, I made that for Kanda..."
She frowned and tried to distract him with a sandwich she had cut all the crust from, holding it out toward him on a small plate. She didn't know if he'd accept it or not, but she decided offering it as a trade for at least one plate of soba was good enough. Kanda was expecting it, after all, and she didn't want to break a promise.
He was busted. Allen couldn't help the pout that formed on his lips. He wasn't going to get to ruin Kanda's meal, Lenalee was making sure of that. With a sigh, he took the sandwich from her, and handed her one (one) plate of soba. If Kanda couldn't be satisfied with one plate, he'd have to deal with it. That bastard could use a lesson in being grateful, because as far as Allen knew, he was nothing but cold and selfish.
"Sorry..." he mumbled, just loud enough for Lenalee to hear.
He took a bite of the sandwich (ham and cheese, a good combination) and chewed quietly as he looked around the lounge. The only people in the lounge at the moment were Lenalee and he. Of course, the others would be here soon just like Lenalee said.
He ate quietly and neatly (unlike his usual tendencies to 'pig out'), not wanting to disgust Lenalee and put shame to her hard work in making all this food. He would patiently wait for the others to arrive...and maybe pray that Kanda would decide not to show, or get lost.
She shook her head at his apology, relieved that he took the sandwich in place of at least one plate of soba. Dealing with Kanda once he found out there was no soba there for him to eat was not something she really wanted to do. This was meant to be enjoyable, or at least as enjoyable as possible.
"Is it good?" her curiosity was getting the better of herself. "I don't usually make food for lots of people, so I made easy things."
She moved around the tray, bending down onto her knees to pull up the tea pot and coffee pot in each one of her hands. "Tea or coffee, Allen?"
[[ooc: posting new comment before the comments get too far to the right. XD]]
Allen was ready to fight. Kanda was pissing him off, and God help him, he just couldn't hold back anymore. He moved his food to the side and got ready to lunge, planning on knocking a few teeth out. He told Kanda not to reveal anything about his injuries.
As he was pushing to stand, Cross's comment caught his attention. He immediately froze. His eyes switched to Lenalee...what did his master mean? He looked to Lenalee as she fended off Kanda's question, and plopped back in his seat, a little dumbfounded.
He turned to Lavi, and his voice was small. Shocked. Confused.
Allen and Kanda fighting was almost refreshing in a way, so he merely watched them bicker like they always did, contemplating grabbing a plate of rice or something else to eat so he could simply lean back to watch the show. He felt bad for Lenalee, but she had to have known this was coming. Deciding he would wait until after their little verbal assault on one another settled down to tell them the news, he shrugged in reply to the look she sent him.
"Oh, that reminds me. Have you two lovebirds done anything since asking permission? Kiss, held hands? Tested the beds out?"Cross's comment caught him off guard, and it was a damn good thing he hadn't taken in anymore food because, otherwise, he would've started choking on it. And he highly doubted that would have made the problem any easier to deal with. Dammit, Cross; who the hell did he think he was!? All that planning-- wasted
( ... )
Heat and anger suddenly shot through him. That- those idiots! What the hell did they think they were doing?!
Kanda's eyes were a little wider, but his expression hadn't changed much really. He thought it over quickly and decided that it was their business -no matter how stupid- and he should stay out.
Yeah, he'd say 'do what you want'. That's what he'd say. And he'd say it towards Lenalee, because if he looked at Lavi he was going to lose it definitely-
"I don't approve in the slightest and you're both- what the fuck are you doing?! You're really that fucking stupid?! I might've expected it from Lavi, but -you-? I thought you would know better than this!"
...ah. Truth week. Fuck, this was going to be an irritating conversation.
He could feel his heart drop to his stomach with every second, feel his lungs sting with every shout from Kanda. What had he missed? Were Lavi and Lenalee that close? He turned away from Lavi. He couldn't look at him; he knew that Lavi could read him like a book, and the betrayal he knew was on his face wouldn't go past the Bookman's eyes. His friend, his best friend, his brother figure...
If there was never a war...wasn't it supposed to be Allen and Lenalee?
He clenched his fists.
"Kanda, shut up. Don't speak to her that way or I really will hit you," his voice shook, trying to contain the shock of it all, and the anger of Kanda yelling at her.

He didn't look up.
"Someone explain how this happened."
