Soul wasn't a morning person and felt terribly restless at night even when he attempted to get a decent night's sleep in. The teen had developed a habit ever since he was young. It had carried over into his teen years when living with Maka in their flat. The demon weapon would find himself unable to rest at the moment and would always venture out to get a glass of milk. He would have to repeat this a few times, especially if Maka was still up fretting about something ( ... )

Not even when he had lain dying in his own blood had he hurt this much. Sephiroth took deep shuddering breaths, trying to calm his rampant misery. Fists clenched tightly; he feared if he did not keep a leash on his temper the entire House would explode.

He could manage it, if need be.

Unfamiliar noises caught his ears but he couldn't care; he was too busy getting a grip back on his sanity. He knew Angeal would be looking for him, but he really needed to be alone for a moment, to collect his scattered thoughts and calm his seething soul.

But a tap on the table snapped him back to reality. Taking a minute to regain equilibrium, the General lifted his head a fraction and spied the glass of water there before him, then feline green eyes moved through silver and spied the young man across the room, sitting thoughtfully atop the counter.

No tears scored Sephiroth's ashen cheeks just yet, but they glimmered in his eyes, nevertheless, he nodded respectful thanks for a stranger's thoughtfulness.

He felt more than saw those eyes on his while he sat there. Soul noticed the nod and gave one back. The weapon really wasn't the type to demand people tell them their problems, but usually was there anyway. There were many times Maka didn't feel like speaking her mind and he never forced her. He just knew the signs. The fact that this man came down here alone to drink without any friends just sort of spelled it out. It wasn't in the teenager's nature to get involved, but damn didn't he just sort of cringe when he did catch those eyes ( ... )

A long sigh and Sephiroth shook his head. "I was uncaring of the selections," he replied in his quiet voice. "The current situation calls for alcohol, so I merely took what was readily at hand."

He leaned back with a sigh, propping his head on one hand. "My normal poison of choice is vodka, but I sought not to profane such a pleasure with this blasphemy."

Again nodding thanks for the boy's trouble, Sephiroth glanced at the newly proffered bottle. "But I thank you for your concern." He supposed the spirits were of some quality; he didn't recognize the label but the other seemed sure.

With a bit more reverence than he'd displayed earlier, he uncapped the bottle and poured a healthy drought, taking care this time to savor the bitter liquid. It was worthy; a pleasant distraction.

Angeal had finally crawled out of the room and gone to find his remaining lover, just trying not to crawl on his knees and beg, because not only was that undignified, but it did not help anyone at all. When he found Sephiroth, and spotted the other two who were coming in from the other direction, he had to shake his head quietly. "Reno, you seem to be drawn to trouble, so I had expected you to show up. . .but you, young man. . .I don't think I know you."

Angeal ignored the two newcomers after in to instead focus on finding whatever liquor Sephiroth had not already consumed, because he had a need to get good and damn drunk too.

"Yeah, yeah, I know, Hewley." Reno had in his hand a bottle of his own homebrew, a BIG one at that, and he held it out to Sephiroth. "It don' taste too good, but it's got a kick to it that'd get Bahamut hammered. Drink up." He was always one to get good and hammered when trouble came calling, if he wasn't baking, and he'd about baked himself out earlier. "I just came ta give th'man some decent rotgut, 'cause th'twoa ya look like you could stand ta get drunk enough ta forget th'past week."

He pulled another bottle of the stuff out from under his coat, taking a good pull off the bottle. Being in the same garden with Yazoo was enough to drive anyone insane, and having seen what he'd seen, knowing what it would cause when he did the right thing and told them. .. yeah, he decided being drunk suited him, too.

"Junpei Iori." The boy held his hand out to Angeal, and shook when Angeal extended his own. "I'm kinda new here. . .been staying out of sight for the most part, because some of the people here seem to be pretty nuts, and I really would rather not be around the crazy. I get enough of that back home, or did, with Takaya. That guy was just as insane as anyone I have ever met."

Junpei rummaged in the fridge for a soda, because he was underage for the booze, and he plopped himself down on a stool after. "Now, I probably would rather NOT know what happened to you guys, really. ..but I'm willing to listen if you need an ear."

Sephiroth had yet to lift his head from the table; he just didn't have the energy. Voices drifted to him, Angeal, Reno and another he didn't recognize. But he figured it wouldn't take Angeal long to find him. Quite honestly, he wanted to be alone for a while, until he was sure he could keep his misery and temper under control.

He'd left Genesis there on his wish, but he'd paused just the slightest when his stubbornness kicked in and turned to go back, only to see them rushing to the fallen SOLDIER's aid. MAKO green eyes had narrowed and he'd nearly exploded on the spot, but to see them fawn so worriedly over his lover had sent up in flames any and all care he had left.

Genesis had made his choice. Now, they just had to live with it.

And quite frankly, Sephiroth wasn't sure he would be able to do so.
