Some thoughts on dumbing down language
I like language. I hate what the alt-right does to language.
I’ve always liked language. Majored in linguistics for a brief time in my misspent university years, and today I make my living as a writer, so I suppose it’s not too surprising, really.

I like my 1933 unabridged OED because it retains so much of the history of words that have been twisted into new slang since new media... such as "sexy" was too new of a word to appear in this edition.
For this edition, "cuck" is to throw (chuck) something, or as a crude description of excrement (more profane than feces, less profane than shit) that had the joy of SOUNDING like "fuck". It gives the example from the 1700s describing someone as a liar and that their behavior/language is horse-cuck, or rather pure, old... horseshit.
Cuckold has none of the fetishism attached, but it DOES require being married.... a raw slang form for adultery where the wife is the adulterer. Now, this might also be leftover Victorian prudery... but it is clear in both adultery/cuckoldery that **marriage** is required for this break of faith to occur.
The cheating wife AND the cheated-on husband are BOTH referred to as cuckolds.
Everyone who is obsessed with AND YET AFRAID OF... sex... are not very good people to depend on to define (or re-define) ( ... )
