There's been some debate recently about the validity of artificial intelligences as compared to more naturally occurring forms of life. I think this is a good time for a poll, don't you? What do you think separates real people from the rest of the world? Is there some kind of test?

I used to think it was just humans...but here I don't know. Maybe all you need is the ability to think and feel for yourself.

But what does that even mean? How can you define thinking for yourself? Even animals can disobey orders...

And ordinary robots think of their own ways to complete tasks, and assign their own jobs in pursuit of goals all the time! I mean, that's the whole point of independent AI, right?

Don't even get me started on feelings. I don't even know if what I think of as the right definition for that word is anything like what other perceive! Even if I do have a ghost....are the two sensations comparable? You're so lucky...

Marco, what's it like to have real feelings?

Animals don't think though...or at least the ones on my world don't think. They just act on instinct.
I don't know about independent AI, we don't really have AI back home.

...I don't think I can describe what they're like. Sorry.
