Composting swamp cooler pads?

Is there any reason you shouldn't compost aspen swamp cooler pads?

That's something I haven't thought of. I'm guessing that as long as they're not treated with anything, they would be good as browns. We put paper in the pile, why not shaved aspen wood? I'll have to check into the possible treatments they put on them.
