So much win. Love vampXander. Always have. And I like what you did with ending here, indulgent Spike is taking his boy to New York. He keeps the Gem and no doubt, doesn't get the soul. Whoohoo.

This was such a lovely surprise. I loved all of your past S/X stories and have missed you writing new ones. This one was good. A vamp and slightly deranged, but Xander was still mindlessly loyal to his friends.

Perhaps the soldier was manifesting, too, in how Xander was strategically persuading Spike to spare Buffy...won't Spike be surprised the first time he really runs up against ~him! ;D

I love original!Spike, and how Xander already knew him well enough to know that if he'd known for sure he left a childe behind, he'd have taken Xander in and taught him. I can see Spike making some childer and letting them fight their way to survival in the early days, because only the strong ones should survive-but I can't see him abandoning his own. Especially not a pretty, crazy brunet!

I think with Angelus and Darla around, them getting into trouble and such, he's probably abandoned a few of his own, but given his 'druthers'...he'd like to keep them.
