I had to do this one.

Name five fanfic cliches you secretly (or not-so-secretly) like.

1. The hero or heroine always gets their love interest. No matter what! I want it to be some tense, drawn out and semi-cheesy Harlequin romance novel type nonsense but it still has to be realistic enough to believe ( Read more... )

My kind of favs! I love UST to pieces and characters that dont fit the norm of what is good or bad.

I hate 'perfect'.

There's nothing more boring than the perfect character who does everything right, who never trips up on their cloak of evily evil all villians wear, who even when they fail get it perfectly right in a smary way. Who can fix everything perfectly, so they end up like 'bob the builder'. Its bloody boring reading it, boring interacting with it, and unimaginative.

I totally agree on all accounts. Though it is alright to have someone who can fix everything.. look at Han Solo... but he had other issues. **Smirk**

I have all set forth above cliches, but I want to add my two pennie...
1. there should not be a happy end here
2. Heroes should have the Dark Evil Past, but somehow change and become good and nice people
3. They should overcome any problems in their life before fortune will smile to them.

I agree but there has to be happy moments. If it is all dark that is just as boring as if it is all happy.

Yes Heroes should oscillate between good and evil.

Three is a very good point. The redemption before the salvation.

Yes, certainly, the story should have a lot of humour, despite of angst. Without it story or show turns to a boring thing.

You know this is one of the reasons I always liked M*A*S*H. There was always terrible tragedy and darkness but the humor was amazing.
