I still haven't got any good pictures of our resident hawk. Though these ones have all the field marks: Slate colored back, White undertail, rusty bars on the chest, black and slate barred tail with a terminal white stripe and the fact it is snatching birds out of the feeders.

Hopefully, with some diligence I will get some good pictures.

WE HAVE A WOODPECKER IN OUR "YARD"!!! he has been visiting our birdfeeder!!! i was SO EXCITED- cause all we have had have been sparrows, chickadees and cardinals... and what i think are baby bluejays which I LOVE--- but the WOODPECKER!
I WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!
neither mgn nor mb cared too much...

I love woodpeckers! I should build you a suet cage to put out for them.

yes.
yes you should.

altho when we run out of food- it is VERY SCARY.
they stare into our patio door- and look like they are going to harm us if we do not refill the feeder.

I get that look... and the terrible blue jay screams.

I will try and get a chance to make one this weekend. :)
