I'm back in the UK. As expected, there are no internets at the flat. :( O2 texted me to tell me that they will be connecting our broadband on the 20th, which means I will be without internets for four more days. Woe is me
( Read more... )
Thanks for the heads-up on Temeraire. I been meaning to start it, just didn't get around yet. Mmmh, maybe it's at the library here. I still have two weeks to kill and no internet... *suffers with you*
Oh, and maybe, if there's no internet to distract me, I could get some vidding or writing done. Hahahaa, let me know how this works out for you. It doesn't for me. ;)
And I need to get used to being back in the UK. Stuff is open on Sundays! It's awesome, isn't it?!!!!
Also: I knew I was back home when on the train a three-year-old boy started discussing the pros and cons of Old!Who versus New!Who with his grandma. They mentioned Daleks. I loled so hard I had to hide or they would have gotten suspicious. LOL
The series won't last you for two weeks, though. The books are fairly quick to get through. At least when there's no internet to distract. >_>
Well, I've been itching to continue my The Noose vid while I was in Germany, but I couldn't, since vidding on the laptop is a joke and the desktop was in the UK. Now that I have the desktop back, of course I'm not vidding, but I'm still hoping that once I manage to sit down and start, my enthusiasm might come back.
Heh, I haven't really had the I AM BACK IN THE UK experience yet, but still, walking around on a Sunday with stuff actually open, it was fun.
I'm still in the first book. I assume I'll need a long time to read it because it's (with the reasons you descriped so exactly) gone to my bathroom. Some books (when I'm not sure if I like them or if I don't like them) I just read while I take a bath. I have got the second book but right now I can't say, that I'll read it. *shrugs* I wish you a wonderful trip to the USA!
Thank you! And yeah, I don't think I'd be reading the books if I didn't lack proper internet access at the moment. They're fun to read while I've got them open and am actually reading, but they don't make me want to pick them back up once I've put them down.
About temeraire: I *hate* battle descriptions, but in her books at least they are never the same and I wasn't as bored as I'd usually be. Also, political intrigue makes me yawn and put books down, but hers actually inspired me to read up on the Napoleonic wars. Huh. I guess it means I like the books.
Even though I cannot watch Master and Commander anymore without seeing Russell Crowe as Laurence. *yuck* :)
Hm, well, the battle descriptions are mercifully short. I usually avoid all books that have long battle descriptions, so I don't really have anything to compare Temeraire to. The political intrigues I don't mind that much, either; I just wish she'd tone down the framework a little and concentrate more on the characters. I've never really been pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised by any of her characters, and that's usually what I read books and watch TV shows for. That's a matter of taste, of course. They're good books, just not really my kind of books.
Yup, and we need to settle on where to pick up neery. And I need to figure out my schedule, but I need the internet at home for that. No internet, it is HIGHLY INCONVENIENT.
And HELLO YOU'RE BACK. I hope you had a fun vacation. :)
