Look, I've got issues with the death penalty to begin with. First off, you're giving the government control over who lives and dies. I'm not cool with that. It's not about ethics- it's about trust. I don't trust anyone with that kind of power.

At the risk of abusing a rather sensitive topic, you know how they say, "They came for X group, and I wasn't a member of X group, so I didn't do anything. Then they came for Y group, and... yada yada."

Now it's, "They protected X group. And I sortakinda felt bad for X group, so I didn't say anything. And then they protected Y group, and I belonged to Y group, so I voted for it. And then they protected Z group, and well, I kinda thought it was bullshit, but I didn't have a leg to stand on because of earlier. And now, well I never wanted anybody to be unsafe or left out, but now none of us can do a damned thing for this cussed tangle of laws."
