i've convinced two people to switch.

personally, i still use my windows machine a lot [cuz someone kidnapped freddie (the laptop)] but i'm looking to switch to linux [unbutu or linspire] while i'm waiting for apple to release os x for intel [and hopefully ported to AMD also].

Hope i understood it correctly. are they going to make Mac OS X that's going to run on intel-based machines?

That's something to look forward to. I'm tired of Windows XP and Windows Vista (codenamed longhorn) doesn't look so promising.

well, apple switched their processors (for future hardware revisions) from the ibm chips to intel chips. they have yet to release an intel machine to the public but the developers have been playing with it na. I've seen a couple of links around that show people running os x on their intel boxes (regular ones and not the developer machines).

I'm not sure if apple will release os x for all intel boxes or just their machines (there's talk of having an extra piece of hardware to determine if its an apple intel machine or not). I hope they do. but if not, I'm sure people will find ways to make it work.
