Doesn't 愚か者同士 mean they're both fools? Let me look up that other phrase...and I learn the word for "threshold." Very nice wording.
I'm guessing this song is not in karaoke, otherwise you could test out the Japanese too. *downloads*

They have to be concise to fit. It's still sort of a chore fitting 君の腕の中 into the melody properly, but I dunno how to make that line any shorter...
敷居またぐ愚か者同士 sortof implies they're both stepping through the door, too. Which is odd, unless they just married, and no that is not in character for this song at all XD this song is about bootless angst!
But 敷居またぐ後で後悔する seems too harsh. I want something self-deprecating and ow and sort of *shrug* what can you do? like the original line.
Oh, this JP has been well-tested. The backup instruments are low-key enough that I can imagine them just fine in the places where they actually do anything. There's a harmony part too; I could sing it next time I see you.

Now that you mention it, it does sound like they're both stepping through the door. That's a great ending line, it just deviates slightly from the original.
And so you did! I must go listen to the song again...
